Design 5/Portfolio Inspirations

Well, it's that time of year again....

1. Topiaries (a continuation of what I was doing/exploring in textiles). Plants, their bold patterns created in aerial views of garden formations, a possible allusion to old english dress or the court of versailles.

2. Pomegranates. Their veiny structure and peircing, exotic red color. Will be very queer looking, surreal, and textural.

3. Fraktur font. This one could be fun, since my interest in typography over these past couple months has really taken fire. The darting angles and curves of the letters, the drama, and old German feeling that this font conjures is very interesting to me. Could do very dark, delve into deeper subject matter.

4. Holden. Frickin'. Caulfield. ((good excuse to re-read Catcher)) Honestly, I feel like he is one of the only people that could ever understand me or at least not judge me and my apparent negativity and 'language' problem.

Design 4 Inspirations

I have mentally compiled a list of possible design 4 inspirations... now they are cyberly compiled.

*Hotel Oloffson (in Haiti, as seen in Hamilton's zombie special) There are many interesting shapes, cutouts (my favorite), and foliage juxtaposition. I could use Addams family references (Wednesday as a muse, yes???) and I love how Hamilton described it as a "giant haunted doily"

#fly fishing flies (they are sooo cool and colorful, i think they look like little aquatic wizards) and Into the Wild/the Alaskan terrain as the ultimate destination for brave, transcendental Aquarian adventurers.

&needlepoint-- what if there was a fabric that was just all needlepoint? like, a repeat of needplepointed roses, dogs, clouds, pumpkins etc. Using the Pointillistic sensibilities and combine it with a True Grit kind of feeling.

Midpoint

Ugh. I hate when everyone else is happy but I'm not. It feels like my junior year in pre-calculus.

I hate that I should be happy, but aren't, because I suck so much lately. Sometimes I wonder if there's any turning back, or if I just secretly like being this much of a loner (in the weirdest, most obscure of ways).

I seriously felt like I was in a nightmare today, bad things just kept happening right after another, multiple times-- I wanted to wake up so bad!!!!

Here's to the New Year, and hoping that I will change. (and have the time to scan things in properly before handing them-- and by them I mean "my babies!"-- to some higher-ups for an extended amount of time.)
